Eugenia stipitata 5.5 inch square pot

Common Name: Araza. Family: Myrtaceae.  Medium sized shrub to small tree native to tropical rain forest in South America. Bright yellow 3 inch fruits are tart but make great jam and juice. I add 1/2 volume of water to pulp, blend on low speed and strain. Add about 3 to 5 tablespoons of agave nectar per quart to sweeten. The juice has hints of citrus and peach but has a delicious unique flavor. Plants often begin to bear when only 2.5 to 3 ft. tall. Bears fruit in in 5 to 7 gallon pots but will eventually require a larger container such as a 15 gallon pot. Full sun. Slightly acidic soil high in organic matter is best. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer. Keep moist. Best growth in warm tropical conditions. Tolerates brief periods near freezing. Outdoors in USDA Zones 10 to 11. Easy to grow.

Plants are grown in 5.5 inch square pots (2.6 liter volume) Stems are typically 12 to 22  inches tall. Plants usually branch at a small size.   3.75 lbs. shipping weight.
