Sandoricum koetjape- Santol (4x4x10 inch tree pot)
Medium sized tree native to India and southeast Asia. Although evergreen in Hawaii, the leaves will turn red just before falling; we see more red leaves during droughts. Large fruits ripen to an orange. The sweet-tart white pulp clings to the seeds. Sometimes used for juice or jams. Trees are easy to grow and should be hardy in most areas that rarely freeze. Growth is fast during hot weather. Outdoors in Zones 10 and 11.
