Inga sp. (maybe jinicuil) 4x4x10
Common Name: Ice Cream Bean. I don't have a 100% ID on this one yet. But it maybe jinicuil or a similar species. Native to rain forest of tropical South America. Large pods are about 2 ft. long and several inches wide. Similar flavor to other ice cream bean species that I have tried. Pinnate leaves with new growth that emerges red and matures to deep green. This tree has a low wide crown; approximately 25 to 30 ft. tall but width is even more. Growth is rapid in the tropics where humidity is high. Plants thrive in full sun or light shade. Slightly acidic soil. Supplement with iron, magnesium and micronutrients. Protect from cool temperatures. Outdoors in Zones 10B to 11.
