Ficus benghalensis (Indian Banyan) 5.5 inch pot
This Ficus forms a large spreading canopy with aerial roots that thicken into "trunks" with age. Oval glossy green leaves. Some of the most ancient specimens can cover several acres. In a container, you may need to prune periodically. This species can be trained as a bonsai. Use a well drained potting soil. Keep moist. Indoors, place in a location that receives several hours of sun. If planting outdoors in the tropics, select a site that will accommodate a very large tree. Fertilize with a general purpose garden fertilizer.
