Camellia sinensis 2.5X10 inch tree pot
Common Name: Tea. Source of green, oolong and black tea. Young leaves are harvest and processed. They under go a brief fermentation to oxidize the leaves which determines the type of finished product. Green tea has the shortest fermentation, then oolong and black tea the longest fermentation time. Medium shade to full sun. Plants are best on slightly acidic soil high in organic matter. White 1 inch flowers may occur at any time of year in Hawaii but in colder climates may be mostly in the late spring through fall. For more leaf production use a fertilizer with slightly higher nitrogen. Iron and magnesium may be necessary to maintain deep green color. Hardy in zones 7 to 10.
