Native to tropical regions of northern South America. Plants are best in warm humid tropical areas. Can be maintained as an atrium or greenhouse specimen for a number of years. Young plants are slow growing. Fronds appear to erupt out of the ground for several years until the trunk begins to develop. Although the trunks can reach 30 to 60 ft. tall, it will take several decades. Oval fruits are about 2.5 inches long and contain 1 large seed; 6 or 7 seeds per pound. Keep moist but not too wet. Outdoors in Zones 10B to 11. Can be maintained in a greenhouse or sunroom. No charges will be made to your credit card until the plants are ready to ship.
